Malala Yousafzai: A bullet didn’t stop her

This is a story about a brave little girl that wanted to learn.

She believed that it was fair for every girl in the world to gain an education.

Sadly, there were some people around her that didn’t agree.

They feared that gaining an education would give her power. One day, October 9th 2012, they walked onto her school bus, asked for her by name and shot her in the head.

But she survived. Even a bullet didn’t stop her.

Her name is Malala Yousafzai.

She turned 17 yesterday and will soon begin her final year of school.

You may know of her story because she has since become a beautiful beacon that shines bright in the world championing for the right for every child to gain an education.

She is a true inspiration and a constant reminder to me of how blessed I am to live in a part of the world where I am free to express myself, receive an education and build a company that supports and empowers communities around the world.

Tomorrow, July 14th, is Malala Day and many people and organisations around the world will be coming together to celebrate not only this incredible young woman but also what she stands for.

In her words, “Malala Day is not my day. It is the day of every girl and every boy. It is a day when we come together to raise our voices, so that those without a voice can be heard.”

Together we can do so much. Together we can stand up against injustice, against fear, against violence and against poverty.

Together we can be the change in the world that makes it a safer place for our children so they can grow, thrive and prosper.

Here at Pearl Grace we believe that change is possible. We celebrate individuality, education and love and so we’ll be joining in on the conversation at #StrongerThan throughout Malala Day and invite you to join us.

Here are a couple of ways you can get involved:

1. Get your little buns over to twitter and tell us what you are #StrongerThan. What are you going to overcome and stand up for?

2. Check out Malala’s birthday wish at Malala.org  make a donation and see other ways you can support the cause.

Whatever you do, show your love and take some meaningful action to support this amazing crusade.

Thank you so much,

Big Love,
